Remote (with occasional in-person meetings)

Voluntary, 4 board meetings per year plus 2 additional days of expertise sharing

Term length: 3 years, with the option to renew for another 3 years

About Upshot Systems CIC:

Upshot Systems CIC is a community interest company (CIC) dedicated to supporting non-profit organisations to manage, monitor and evidence their social impact. Upshot has a unique story born out of a need for organisations to explain to the outside world the change they are creating. Originally created at the Football Foundation, Upshot was built to help funders and deliverers collect good data, understand their progress and report on their impact.

Working at the intersection of technology and impact, Upshot has extensive reach, working with over 1400 organisations around the world and has a rich history of delivering value for our many loyal clients like Lord’s Taverners, Premiership Rugby, Rank Foundation, London Youth and Blackpool Council.

Our mission is to build a global community of impact-led organisations who use data to make better decisions to serve their communities. We do this by providing capacity building support around good impact measurement practices, giving access to our state of the art SaaS tool to help organisations collect good data and support organisations with data visualisation and storytelling.

We are now in a position to scale our impact to new international markets and become a global driver of effective use of data and stories by non-profit organisations. To grow to our potential we need additional leadership, expertise and vision on our Board and are looking for some skilled leaders to join us. 

The Opportunity:

As we prepare to amplify our reach, there's an opportunity for you to make a meaningful contribution as a new Director on our Board. This involves lending your experience and perspective to the important decisions we are making as an organisation. As we scale into international markets, we need visionary leaders to help us expand our footprint and elevate non-profits worldwide. This is where you come in.  

Together, we will chart the course for Upshot, as we expand our impact on a global scale. You’ll join a team of like-minded individuals committed to making a difference, leveraging your skills to unlock the full potential of non-profits everywhere.

We are seeking experienced, purpose led, impact driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of Upshot Systems CIC and, by extension, support non-profit organisations worldwide in their journey to maximise impact. 

Desired Skills and Experience:

We are looking for bold, purpose driven leaders who have knowledge and experience in any of the below areas: 

  • Technology Visionary: If you have a background in SaaS development, join us in shaping accessible tech solutions that empower non-profits to measure their impact.
  • Legal Expertise: Help us navigate data protection, contract law, and intellectual property, ensuring robust compliance for us and our clients.
  • International Growth Strategist: Experience in scaling businesses internationally, especially in the USA market, to help us accelerate our global ambitions.
  • Operations & HR Specialist: Skilled in building high-performing teams and creating cultures where people thrive as we grow.
  • Impact Innovator: A proven track record in impact measurement or the charity sector, driving innovation that benefits communities and strengthens non-profits.
  • ESG Leader: Deep knowledge of corporate ESG practices to ensure our operations align with our mission and capitalise on growing ESG trends.
  • Strategic Architect: Expertise in developing and executing strategic plans that guide organisational growth and scalability.
