Upshot is excited to announce that we have gone Welsh! With the acquisition of our first Welsh clients - the Reaching Wider Partnerships funded by HEFCW, Carmarthenshire County Council, and Welsh Colleges Sport - Upshot is now available in Welsh.

The Reaching Wider Programme is a Wales-wide programme funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), consisting of three regional Reaching Wider Partnerships which lead on Reaching Wider activities in North and Mid Wales, South West Wales and South East Wales (First Campus). All higher and further education institutions in Wales are partners in this collaborative long term programme to break down perceived barriers and widen access to higher education and higher-level skills. The programme aims to raise the educational aspirations and skills as well as provide learning pathways into higher education for,  those people living in areas of deprivation (Communities First areas) and looked after children, which includes care leavers.

Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) aim to provide high quality services to approximately 170,000 people across the rural area in an effort to make Carmarthenshire a better place to live, work, and enjoy leisure time. Carmarthenshire CC also provide funding schemes and grants to local organisations and individuals, such as the Sport Wales Community Chest Fund, which is awarded to organisations providing sport or physical activity with the aim of increasing participation amongst underrepresented demographics, tackling inequality, and increasing the number (and improving the quality) of sports coaches.

Welsh Colleges Sport is the governing body for further education sport in Wales, responsible for running Welsh further education college competitions in over 20 sports, and putting forward representatives to compete internationally in football, rugby, hockey, cricket and netball.

Welsh Colleges Sport also hold the wider role of promoting sport, physical activity and volunteer work in the further education sector, managed by College Wales in partnership with Sport Wales. Welsh Colleges Sport work with a range of partners and friends - including AoC Sport, First Campus and South Wales Transport - in order to encourage more young adults to engage in physical activity, competitive sport, and to volunteer in further education through three strands; Active Fitness, Active Wellbeing, and Active You.

Upshot allows the Reaching Wider Partnership, Carmarthenshire County Council and Welsh Colleges Sport to manage, monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the projects that they deliver and fund.

Monitoring and evaluating projects through Upshot’s system will allow our Welsh clients to identify which demographics and areas require further focus through extensive breakdowns of sessions, participants and feedback; filtering results by anything from age and background to gender and location.

Upshot also simplifies the recording and amalgamation of both qualitative and quantitative data through instantly generated, reports that can be edited by the user. The Reaching Wider Partnership, Carmarthenshire CC and Welsh Colleges Sport are also able to set goals and measures of success against which they may gauge progress and effectiveness.

All of this will allow the Reaching Wider Partnership, Carmarthenshire County Council and Welsh Colleges Sport to maximise their efficiency through the study of clear data evidence, allowing a better understanding of how to proceed and increase impact.
